COWIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network)
A program launched by the Indian government in January 2021 as part of the country's COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The program monitors and tracks vaccine distribution and administration progress across the country to ensure the vaccine is delivered to eligible individuals as quickly and efficiently as possible. The program is being implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and other stakeholders.
COWIN is a digital platform used to track the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in India. The platform is used to register eligible individuals for vaccination, schedule vaccination appointments, and track the progress of the vaccination process.
Registration: Eligible individuals can register for vaccination on the COWIN website or through the Aarogya Setu app using their mobile number. They will then receive an SMS with a link to complete the registration process and schedule an appointment.
Scheduling: Once registered, individuals can schedule an appointment for vaccination at a nearby centre. The platform will show the available dates and times for vaccination at different centres, and individuals can select a time and location that is convenient for them.
Tracking: After receiving the vaccination, individuals can track the progress of their vaccination status on the COWIN website or the Aarogya Setu app. They will also receive SMS notifications regarding the next dosage and other important information.
Health Monitoring: The platform will also monitor the health of the vaccinated person and provide necessary health guidance if required.
The platform is designed to be user-friendly and accessible, with information available in multiple languages to ensure that it is accessible to all eligible individuals.
